Children given a new chance of a Better Voice

"For the better world and the happier society.
Yeson strives to make contributions to the world!'
The more we work closely together with all our heart, the better our society will be.
Yeson Medical Center is taking part in the Medical Charity Promotion to let the world know of Korea's excellent medical techniques and to give aid to patients from developing countries whose economic condition is not good enough to get medical treatments.  This is organized by the Korea International Medical Association and all treatments are made free of charge.

With the active partipation of Yeson Voice Center to promote and deliver the goals of KIMA, the center has been accommodating patients from different countries to provide good medical care to those in need.  They communicate with the patients through the help of the center's coordinators that can speak different languages, they arrange all the needs of the patient, from air fare, accommodation, and even tour during their stay in Korea, all at no cost.

There are a number of patients who are very fortunate to have already included in this program. Two of them are the Russian kids with Laryngeal Papilloma who have received surgery in October of 2011.

Ruslan is a 9 year old boy from a small town in Syberia Kisseletsk.  He lives with his mother, stepfather, and brother.  His stepfather works in a coal mine and his earnings are not enough to support his family especially his children's health needs.  They have noticed the change in voice of Ruslan and has consulted a local doctor.  He was first diagnosed of having a worsening voice secondary to stress.  There are numerous hospitals in the city, but there is still difficulty in diagnosing cases like this, showing that their medical facilities and skills are still developing.  Due to the persistence of his parents to know his condition, they insisted on having a laryngeal examination and this revealed a Laryngeal Papilloma.  He already underwent three surgeries but these has not completely removed the papilloma and has not improved Ruslan's voice.  Despite the continuous effort of his parents to find cure for their son, financial problems came which hindered them from achieving their goal and eventually lead to loss of Ruslan's voice.

Alina is a 5 year old girl from Shhtinsk located in the upper part of East in Russia.  She is living with her mother and grandmother.  Her mother is a very young single mom at age of 24. She is devoting herself to working in a wallpaper store in order to provide for her daughter.  Thay had lost contact with Alina's father and Alina's health problem have made their situation worse and even more painful.

Full of hope, anxiety, and excitement, Ruslan and Alina arrived in Incheon International Airport of South Korea on October 13, greeted and welcomed by Yeson Voice Center's Russian coordinator. They were then brought to Yeson Voice Center to meet Professor Kim Hyung-tae, the director of the hospital and the attending of the patients.  The kids were interviewed and examined meticulously using the state of the art equipments of the center.  As Ruslan's mother commented, "We were unable to see Ruslan's larynx before and it is nice to see it on the monitor for the first time."  After careful examination, Professor Kim explained to both the mothers of Ruslan and Alina their condition and the surgery to be performed.  The kids both underwent Microlaryngeal Surgery and Pulsed Dye Laser.  The Laryngeal Papilloma were completely removed with preservation of the vocal cord function.  This has made both of the mother's happy with the hope to regain their kid's normal voice.

They stayed in South Korea for 10 days. They did not only had the chance of having the surgery that will completely change their lives but also they experienced some fun in Lotte World and also some Korean Culture for which they truly enjoyed.

There is still a continuous communication with the parents of the Ruslan and Alina, they said that the kids' voice condition is better.  They are now able to enjoy life in school, can have happy conversations and laughters with family and friends and of course an enjoyable play time with their friends.

With the continuous effort of Yeson Medical Charity Promotion to provide contributions to the world through their field of specialty, more patients are able to be the next Ruslan and Alina.  A better voice for the better world and the happier society.

Patients with different voice problems from different countries are very much welcome to be a part of this charity program and experience a change that only Yeson Voice Center can bring.
